Responsibilities

  • Support patients’ activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, feeding, hygiene, mobility, transport) and follow standard precautions.
  • Perform technical duties as directed by RN (phlebotomy, vital signs, point of care testing, EKGs, Foley catheter care) and document appropriately.
  • Identify and communicate changes in patient status to RN and respond appropriately, maintaining safe patient practices.
  • Reinforce education for patients and families regarding care needs and safety.
  • Participate in patient satisfaction initiatives, performance improvement activities, and assist in orienting new hires.
  • Complete annual hospital and unit-specific competencies by the required due date.
  • Consistently adhere to safety protocols and quality standards to ensure a safe environment and high-quality patient care.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills for interacting with patients, visitors, and coworkers.
  • Capacity to identify and communicate changes in patient status.

Requirements

  • 0-2 years’ experience required.
  • Able to complete phlebotomy and EKG training if not part of the fundamentals of nursing course or within 90 days of hire—will be offered through orientation.
  • High School/GED required.
  • Successful completion of Fundamentals of Nursing course with clinical in an accredited nursing program and maintain active enrollment in nursing school required.
  • AHA Basic Life Support certification.
  • Completed at least one fundamental nursing course with clinical in an accredited nursing program and maintain active enrollment in nursing school.
  • Communication – Ability to communicate with patients, visitors, and coworkers required.
  • Phlebotomy/EKG competency/venipuncture experience preferred.

Schedule

  • 7 AM - 7 PM
  • 4 shifts every 6 weeks
  • 3 weekend shifts, 1 weekday
  • 1 major winter, 1 major summer, and 1 hallmark holiday
