Responsibilities

• Serves as a resource for clinical inquiry, including identification of potential projects and subject matter expertise
• Demonstrates a "spirit of inquiry" to support research, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement initiatives using PDSA (plan, do, study, act) methodology
• Collaborates to identify problems, create solutions, and implement changes
• Creates a supportive environment for nursing research, scientific inquiry, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice
• Disseminates evidence-based practice findings through educational programs and activities
• Creates, plans, implements, and coordinates orientation for new nursing staff using ANPD standards of practice
• Adjusts implementation strategies based on learner's developmental level, needs, and preferences
• Engages learners in educational activities using effective facilitation skills
• Develops and coordinates education plans for new graduates, experienced nurses, and ancillary staff, including competency validation
• Utilizes clinical problems to promote inquiry, improvement, and competency assessment
• Collects data to evaluate and refine competency management activities
• Performs needs assessment, gap analysis, and environmental scanning to identify high-risk and problem-prone practices
• Designs and implements engaging, evidence-based educational activities rooted in adult learning principles
• Integrates regulatory standards for continuing education contact hours
• Develops evidence-based plans in collaboration with stakeholders to support interprofessional team coordination
• Assists with professional role development, practice transitions, and succession planning
• Supports the preceptor program and provides unit-level preceptor support
• Promotes certification and advanced formal education
• Collaborates with academic partners for student placement and positive student experiences
• Implements nursing professional development (NPD) initiatives with caring, respectful, and inclusive behaviors
• Identifies opportunities for collaboration related to education and clinical practice
• Communicates and collaborates effectively with stakeholders regarding professional development activities
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor's of Nursing (Required)
• Master's (Preferred)
• 2+ years of nursing experience in a hospital setting (Required)
• Experience in PICU (Preferred)
• Experience as preceptor (Preferred)
• Previous teaching experience in formal/informal settings (Preferred)
• 1+ years of experience as an NPD Practitioner (Preferred)

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) license (Required)
• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) (Required)
• ANCC - Nursing Professional Development Certification (ANCC-NPD) (Preferred)
• Acute/Critical Care Nursing - Adult (CCRN) (Preferred)

Skills

• Working knowledge of word processing, data management, email, and presentation applications (Required)
• Effective professional communicator with strong interpersonal skills (Required)
• Knowledge of ANA/ANPD scope and standards for Nursing Professional Development (Required)
• Self-directed, creative, and demonstrates initiative to fulfill the seven roles of the NPD practitioner (Preferred)
• Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards (e.g., CMS, OSHA) (Preferred)

Pay

Pay Range: $70,682.60 - $131,480.21
