Job Overview
At Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center, Nursing Professional Development Practitioner/Nurse Educator is responsible for participating in the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of education and training for hospital associates.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide for orientation, in-service training, and continuing education
- Develops, implements, and validates initial and ongoing competencies
- Demonstrates effective teaching skills through appropriate instructional methodologies
- Applies principles of adult learning theory when conducting programs
- Facilitates professional role development and practice role transitions
- Edicates and mentors nursing staff on quality improvement and evidence-based practice
- Maintains simulation lab and equipment; provides simulation experiences and encourages use of simulation in educational programs
- Analyzes issues, trends, and supporting data to determine the learning needs of individuals and departments
- Represents Nursing Professional Development/NPD specialty in hospital-wide/system-wide committees and councils; disseminates information accordingly
- Organizes multiple assignments and/or projects simultaneously
- Visible and accessible to clinical staff

Requirements
- At least 5 years of RN experience in acute care clinical services
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing
- Active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing
- American Heart Association BLS certification
- Master’s degree in Education, Nursing and/or Health Related Field or post-master's certificate in education, specialty nursing certification such as Nursing Professional Development-Board Certified/NPD-BC, and 2 years in professional development/education are strongly preferred
