About the Role

Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the facility’s programs and activities in accordance with guidelines issued by the State of North Carolina. Develop and manage annual operational and capital budgets. Ensure that each resident receives necessary care and services to attain and maintain the highest practical physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being consistent with the resident’s comprehensive assessment and plan of care.

Participate in facility-wide assessments to ensure resources are available to care for residents competently during both day-to-day operations and emergencies. Provide the State of North Carolina with information relative to survey findings, plans of correction, monitoring guidelines, state reportable incidents, and follow-up survey results.

Periodically review the facility’s Online Survey Certification and Reporting System (OSCAR) and quality measures data posted on the Nursing Home Compare website to determine accuracy; report discrepancies to appropriate state agencies and monitor corrections. Ensure the facility and resident environment remain as free of accidents as possible through adequate supervision, assistive devices, hazard analysis, risk interventions, and effectiveness monitoring.

Oversee the admission, transfer, and discharge of all residents in compliance with local, state, and federal requirements. Work with the facility’s insurance carrier, legal counsel, and designated personnel to develop and implement a risk management program. Ensure human resource policies comply with government laws and regulations.

Ensure an adequate number of appropriately trained, competent, and licensed personnel are on duty at all times to meet residents' needs. Develop and implement employee health and safety programs, including risk management, wellness initiatives, and OSHA compliance. Maintain and monitor an effective infection prevention and control program.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise facility operations in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Develop and manage operational and capital budgets.
  • Ensure resident care aligns with comprehensive assessments and care plans.
  • Conduct facility-wide assessments for resource adequacy during daily operations and emergencies.
  • Report survey findings, plans of correction, and state reportable incidents to the State of North Carolina.
  • Monitor and verify accuracy of public quality measures data; report discrepancies.
  • Implement accident prevention measures, including hazard analysis and risk interventions.
  • Oversee resident admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
  • Collaborate on risk management programs with insurance and legal teams.
  • Ensure compliance of human resource policies with applicable laws.
  • Maintain adequate staffing levels with trained and licensed personnel.
  • Develop and enforce employee health, safety, and OSHA compliance programs.
  • Monitor and maintain an effective infection prevention and control program.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of supervisory experience in a hospital or nursing facility.
  • Current unencumbered nursing home administrator’s license or eligibility to meet North Carolina licensure requirements.
  • Bachelor’s degree (required); master’s degree in public health administration, business administration, or a health-related field (preferred).
  • Licensed in North Carolina as a Nursing Home Administrator.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience as an administrator or in a senior managerial role in a skilled nursing care facility.

Working Conditions

  • Works in office areas and throughout the facility and its premises.
  • Subject to frequent interruptions.
  • Engages with residents, family members, personnel, and visitors under varied conditions.
  • Works beyond normal hours, including weekends and holidays, as necessary.
  • On call 24 hours a day, 7 days per week.
