About the role

The Arizona College of Nursing is a rapidly growing institution that prepares students for successful nursing careers and improves communities through the care provided by its graduates. The college offers a bachelor's in nursing in 3 years or less with qualified transfer credits and is committed to addressing the growing demand for nurses.

Responsibilities

  • Teach at least 36 credits annually and design an effective learning environment to facilitate student learning.
  • Evaluate student learning using various assessment tools and actively participate in curriculum design, program evaluation, and revision.
  • Mentor faculty, adjuncts, and students, recognizing the role of a nurse educator and pursuing continuous in-service/professional development opportunities.
  • Develop and implement the nursing education program's philosophy and objectives, and lead simulation learning experiences in the Nursing Lab.
  • Teach and evaluate students in the classroom and in clinical settings, ensuring students apply theoretical knowledge to practical situations.
  • Communicate effectively with clinical agency representatives, staff, faculty, and students, identifying and addressing clinical issues promptly.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate regularly with Course Lead Faculty about student progress.
  • Adhere to and enforce policies and procedures of Arizona College of Nursing and the assigned clinical facility.
  • Connect students to college resources for their success and maintain a presence on campus to contribute positively to the campus culture.
  • Participate in developing, evaluating, and revising admission, progression, retention, and graduation policies through the governance structure.
  • Provide input to faculty meetings and other nursing events, such as graduation ceremonies.
  • Ensure compliance with FERPA guidelines and protect student privacy.

Requirements

  • Graduate degree in nursing or a related field from an accredited program recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or CHEA.
  • A minimum of three (3) years' experience as a professional registered nurse providing direct patient care.
  • Previous experience teaching in a registered nursing program at a college or university is preferred.
  • A current unencumbered state professional registered nurse license or enhanced compact nurse licensure relevant to the state of teaching location.
  • Certified Nurse Educator certification and national certification in area of nursing specialty is preferred.
  • Maintain professional competence/expertise in teaching through activities such as nursing practice, continuing education programs, conferences, workshops, seminars, academic courses, research projects, and professional writing.
