Summary
The Nursing Director, IDD Services oversees a department or program delivering health care services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This role involves managing staff, ensuring quality services, and promoting health and safety.
Essential Job Functions
- Supports employees with medical policies and procedures.
- Consults with support staff on medical matters.
- Maintains quality standards for medical services and supports.
- Promotes health, safety, and welfare of individuals served.
- Maintains a functional understanding of funding, managed care requirements, and licensing requirements.
- Maintains compliance with federal and state licensing requirements and company policies.
- Completes medical quality assurance reviews and ensures confidentiality of medical records.
- Schedules and trains Approved Medication Assistive Personnel (AMAP).
- Maintains familiarity with emergency procedures and implements them during emergencies.
- Monitors and implements infection control/safety procedures.
- Assists in developing and implementing person-centered IPPs.
- Maintains awareness of individual budgets and ensures adherence to them.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Directs and supervises assigned staff.
- Makes decisions on hiring, transfers, promotions, salary changes, discipline, and terminations.
- Solves employee problems within position responsibilities.
Minimum Knowledge and Skills
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing or Nursing Program.
- Five years’ experience, including three years of management experience, with the population being served.
- Certification/Licensed as a Registered Nurse.
- AMAP approved nurse certification within 60 days of employment.
- Valid Driver’s license, car registration, and vehicle insurance.
- First Aid/CPR certification within 30 days of employment.
- Training courses associated with consumer behavior and care within 90 days of employment.
- Knowledge of blood borne pathogens and handling them safely.
