Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides developmentally appropriate care to assigned patients.
- Supports with the patient admission and discharge process.
- Affords assistance with activities of daily living such as bathing, Foley catheter care, changing, feeding, and ambulating patients.
- Functions as a One-to-One (1:1) Observer (training will be provided).
- Captures and monitors data including vital signs, intake/output, and growth measurements.
- Maintains accurate records of patient care activities and reports patient status and data to the RN.
- Affords assistance with and/or performs venipuncture for labs as necessary (training provided).
- Completes non-clinical duties such as patient transport, supply stocking, and equipment cleaning.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
- At time of hire, must meet one of the following requirements:
- Successful completion of one semester/quarter of clinical rotation in an accredited nursing program.
- Recent (within 2 years) and previous CHKD Nursing Care Partner experience.
- Successful completion of CHKD’s nursing student extern program.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (without successful completion of the NCLEX board exam).
- Active Nurse Assistant Certification, Medical Assistant Certification, Emergency Medical Technician Certification, and/or Patient Care Technician Certification.
- A record of completion for all education, licenses, training, and/or certifications is required at time of hire.
- Continuous certification and/or maintenance of state licensures, certifications, training, educational, and application requirements is required during employment.
Working Conditions
Normal patient care environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature, and the like. Frequent exposure to communicable disease and moderately adverse working conditions due to performance of certain patient care activities.
