Nursing Assistant /Unit Secretary II, Cardiac Telemetry (Full-time Days)

About the role

Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, assumes responsibility for the collection of data related to patient status. Performance of basic nursing procedures. On-going collection and documentation of patient data. Assistance with treatments and procedures. Assistance with maintenance of patient care equipment.

Essential Functions

• Assists patients with activities of daily living and hygiene.
• Turns and repositions patients alone or with assistance.
• May transport patients and assist with walking.
• Assists with fall prevention interventions and patient restraints as delegated.
• Removing and reapplying anti-emboli hose or compression devices.
• Aids in the admission of patients to the unit by preparing room, greeting, and orienting patient and/or family to the unit (bed, call light, phone, TV).
• Takes and records vital signs and with repeating questionable values.
• Prepares patients for meals and assisting in feeding and providing snacks and supplements.
• Collections urine, stool, and sputum specimens. Delivers specimens to appropriate department as requested.
• Completes documentation in EMR in accurate and timely manner.
• Maintains cleanliness and order of hospital room, utility room, diet kitchen, hallways, and alcoves. Disposes of excess linen and keeps linen emptied.
• Performs point of care testing as trained and delegated by RN. Reports lab values to RN.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

  Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

  This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.

  Minimum Requirements

  • Education - Completion of a nursing assistant program preferred.
  • Experience - No previous experience required.
  • Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses - N/A
