Nursing Assistant- Part Time - 7a-7p
Description Of Position
The Nursing Assistant provides physical patient care in a safe manner under the direction of the Licensed Nurse. SUPERVISION: Reports directly to Nurse Manager and/or Charge Nurse.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates competency in use of technology and computers for patient charting and related functions.
- Provides physical patient care in a safe manner under the direction of the Licensed Nurse.
- Performs or assists patient with activities of daily living (showering, bathing, dressing, feeding, activity).
- Communicates abnormal variances of data (vital signs, pain, etc) to appropriate staff.
- Collections information regarding patient/patient condition: vital signs, intake and output, food intake.
- Consistently utilizes basic decision making skills to complete routine tasks.
- Participates in best practices in a consistent and positive manner; huddles, hourly rounding, bedside reporting, Service Excellence, and the use of the white boards.
- Collaborates with unit staff to provide coordinated patient care.
- Utilizes unit specific equipment competently.
- Competently performs unit specific procedures.
- Is knowledgeable of and actively participates in implementation of Unit PI plan.
- Makes suggestions/recommendations for improved operations.
- Follows established hospital/department safety policies.
- Understands and appropriately responds to the unique combination of cultural variables that professionals and patients/individuals bring to interactions.
Requirements
- High school graduate/GED preferred.
- Prior experience as a Nursing Assistant in a hospital setting may be used as a substitute to the education requirement.
- Graduate of an approved Nursing Assistant Training Program preferred.
- CPR certified preferred.
- Basic computer skills.
- Able to communicate professionally with patient, family, peers and medical personnel; able to exercise independent judgment.
- Able to work weekends.
- Must be able to respond quickly and effectively to emergency and non-emergent situations.
- Must be able to assist in controlling disorderly conduct or combative patients.
- Able to exchange accurate information with patient, family, peers and medical personnel.
