About the role
The Nursing Assistant at UCI Health assists professional and technical nursing personnel in various duties directly related to patient care.
Responsibilities
- Takes and records vital signs
- Aids patients with hygiene and elimination
- Maintains a clean and safe unit environment
- Stocks unit supplies
- Operates hospital equipment as directed
- Performs routine clerical tasks
- Assists with other related duties as assigned
Requirements
- Understanding of basic medical terminology
- Ability to read, write, and speak English effectively
- Ability to work weekends and holidays
- Certified Nurses Assistant (C.N.A.) certification or enrollment in an accredited nursing program with completion of at least one clinical semester
- Demonstrated patient care experience, preferably in an acute care setting
- Nursing Assistants hired before May 2010 without C.N.A. certification are not required to obtain it at this time
- Ability to communicate effectively in a therapeutic way
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire (issued by the AHA)
- Approved workplace violence responder training program within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter
Qualifications
- Must be able to work weekends and holidays
- Must be certified as a Certified Nurses Assistant (C.N.A.) or enrolled in an accredited nursing program with completion of at least one clinical semester
- Must demonstrate effective communication skills
- Must have current BLS certification upon hire (issued by the AHA)
- Must complete approved workplace violence responder training program within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter
