Nursing Assistant II - Emergency Department
Position Summary
The Certified Nursing Assistant II performs specific responsibilities under the direction and supervision of a licensed nurse. Functions within the framework of the NAII listing granted by the NC Board of Nursing. Practices within the philosophy and goals of patient care services. In addition, the Nursing Assistant may be utilized in the Observer Role responsible for monitoring one or more assigned patients on a designated unit for a specified time period.
Responsibilities
- Participates in quality Improvement (QI) Activities
- Participates in problem solving resolution activities and identifies opportunities for improvement to change behavior
- Participates in data collection
- Employs safe practices, infection control, and fire and disaster regulations
- Participates in cost savings activities
- Attends and utilizes staff development programs and educational resources to meet unit objectives and/or individual objectives
- Fulfills annual mandatory educational requirements
- Participates in the orientation of new staff and students, as delegated by the supervising RN
- Follows hospital and unit based policies and procedures
- Provides quality patient care
- Maintains familiarity with job description and legal implications of role
- Maintain active NAI and NAII licensure/certification
- Buils interpersonal relations and communications
- Listens to the ideas, opinions, and feelings of others
- Grives and receives constructive feedback
- Recognizes and intervenes when personal conflicts have the potential to interfere with patient care or team relationships
- Works effectively with others in a team environment
- Demonstrates behaviors and attitudes that are respectful or others, and fosters enhanced communication and teamwork
- Seeks help and utilizes chain of command appropriately
- Makes unit, department and hospital contributions
- Participates in unit goal setting

Minimum Requirements
- High School or GED is preferred - or higher
- Active NAI listing with NC Department of Health & Human Services is required
- Active NAII listing with North Carolina Board of Nursing is required
- Current American Heart Association HeartSaver or higher certification is required
- De-escalation training (Non-violent crisis intervention or other de-escalation program adopted by ECU Health)
- If not current at the time of hire must complete within 90 days of employment and maintain without lapse during employment
Pay Range
$18.00 - $23.31
