Nursing Assistant - General Medical

Building B - St Marys Medical Center, Department 2003970, SMMC 16-MED SURG, SMMC Hospital, Duluth, Minnesota. Become part of Essentia’s accomplished team on the beautiful shores of Lake Superior. We are looking for a Compassionate Nursing Assistant to join our Level 16 General Medical Unit at St Mary's Medical Center.

Position is part‑time (0.4 FTE) with possible remote/hybrid option. Union: SMMC Main Service Workers Local 70 (SMSVW).

Responsibilities

• Providing personal hygiene care
• Assisting with nutritional needs
• Providing comfort care and other assistance
• Appropriately and safely transferring patients
• Taking vital signs and completing recordkeeping
• Recognizing and promptly reporting changes in patient condition to the RN
• Maintaining a safe, clean environment for patients to promote the healing process

Requirements

• Education qualifications – meet one of the following:
  • 6 months of nursing assistant experience
  • Completion of one semester of clinical rotations within an accredited nursing program
  • Enrollment into the Essentia Health Nursing Assistant Foundation Course within 30 days of hire
  • Verifiable completion of a recognized nurse aide training program
  • Current registration on applicable state nursing assistant registry
• Licensure/Certification – BLS certified or ability to become certified within 1 month from hire date; if qualified through the Essentia Health Foundation Course (East Market, excluding WI): completion of Essentia Health Nursing Assistant Foundation course within 90 days of hire

Qualified candidates may be eligible for a hiring incentive of up to $1,500 (restrictions may apply).

Pay

Compensation range: $17.39 – $22.45 per hour.

Schedule

Position requires 32 hours every two weeks, every other weekend, rotating 8‑hour shifts:

• Day shift: 6:00 am – 2:30 pm
• Evening shift: 2:00 pm – 10:30 pm
• Night shift: 10:00 pm – 6:30 am

Shift start times: 6 am, 2 pm, 10 pm; shift end times: 2:30 pm, 10:30 pm, 6:30 am. Weekends and holidays are required; no call obligation.
