About the Role

Arizona College of Nursing is seeking Nursing Adjunct Faculty to provide instruction that facilitates students’ achievement of course objectives while embodying the college’s values of Passion, Adaptability, Accountability, Integrity, and Excellence. This role involves teaching in core nursing, didactic, and clinical areas, as well as contributing to curriculum development, program evaluation, and student success.

Responsibilities

  • Core Nursing:
    • Develop, implement, teach, and evaluate the philosophy and objectives of the nursing education program.
    • Design, implement, teach, evaluate, and revise the curriculum.
    • Document actions taken in faculty and committee meetings using a systematic plan of evaluation for total program review.
    • Lead simulation learning experiences in the Nursing Lab.
  • Didactic:
    • Teach and evaluate students in the classroom.
    • Design an effective learner environment to address contemporary issues in nursing.
    • Support students’ academic progression and socialization into the nursing role.
    • Utilize assessment tools to evaluate student learning.
    • Work with Course Lead Faculty to develop student success plans and remediate “at-risk” students.
  • Clinical:
    • Facilitate students’ application of theory to clinical practice.
    • Attend healthcare facility/agency-based orientation.
    • Communicate effectively with clinical agency representatives, staff, faculty, and students.
    • Identify and communicate clinical areas of concern to Course Lead Faculty.
    • Provide timely feedback on clinical papers and maintain records on student performance.
    • Complete clinical site evaluations and adhere to college and clinical facility policies.
  • Additional Responsibilities:
    • Plan, teach, and evaluate classroom, clinical, and skills lab experiences.
    • Connect students to college resources for success.
    • Participate in academic advisement and counseling of students.
    • Coach students on soft skills such as leadership, communication, teamwork, and responsibility.
    • Attend campus-based orientation and faculty meetings.
    • Provide input on program policies and uphold FERPA guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree required; if not in nursing, must have a Bachelor’s degree in nursing and a graduate degree in a related discipline from an accredited program.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ work experience as a professional registered nurse providing direct patient care.
  • Previous experience teaching in a registered nursing program preferred.
  • Current unencumbered state professional registered nurse license or enhanced compact nurse licensure relevant to the teaching location.
  • Certified Nurse Educator certification and national certification in area of nursing specialty preferred.
  • Maintains professional competence through nursing practice, continuing education, and professional development activities.
