About the role
Nurse Unit Managers assist with the direct supervision of all resident care activities, coordinate nursing service activities with facility administration, community agencies, physicians, and families, and ensure nursing service compliance.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement methods for coordinating nursing services with other resident services.
- Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, direct, and manage the nursing services department under the direction of the Director of Nursing services.
- Assist in planning, developing, implementing, and maintaining resident discharge procedures and plans.
- Participate in the interviewing and screening of residents for admission to the facility.
- Absorb and notify the attending physician(s) and family or responsible party of any significant changes in the resident's health status.
- Develop work assignments for nursing services personnel based on specific nursing care needs of the residents.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.
- Currently licensed by the State of Indiana as a registered or licensed practical nurse.
- Experience or training in nursing services administration, rehabilitation, or geriatric nursing is highly desirable.
- One or more years of demonstrated ability in nursing administration and/or supervision in a health facility.
- Ability to read and write in English, communicate with residents, families, personnel, and support agencies, and remain calm under stress.
- Bending, lifting, walking, grasping, fine hand coordination, ability to distinguish smells, tastes, and temperatures, hearing, and responding to pages.
Qualifications
- Must be a graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.
- Must be currently licensed by the State of Indiana as a registered or licensed practical nurse.
- Desirable to have experience or training in nursing services administration, rehabilitation, or geriatric nursing.
- Preferred to have one or more years of demonstrated ability in nursing administration and/or supervision in a health facility.
- Must have the ability to read and write in English, communicate effectively with residents, families, personnel, and support agencies, and remain calm under stress.
- Must possess the physical abilities to bend, lift, walk, grasp, perform fine hand coordination, distinguish smells, tastes, and temperatures, hear, and respond to pages.
