Nurse Technician (Nights)

Responsibilities

• Affords assistance in patient admission, discharge, and transfer.
• Measures, collects, and documents patient data according to policy and reports symptoms and changes to the Registered Nurse.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living and appropriate patient care.
• Retrieves and delivers medications as directed by the Registered Nurse.
• Ensures patient rooms and nursing station areas are clean and orderly.
• Collaborates with physicians during examinations, treatments, and special tests.
• Collects and transports patient specimens to the lab under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
• Performs procedures using equipment safely as directed by a Registered Nurse.
• Adheres to nursing standards and policies to enhance quality and efficiency of hospital nursing services.
• Utilizes equipment, supplies, and resources prudently and efficiently.
• Participates in quality improvement programs and reports behavioral/psychological changes to the assigned nurse or charge nurse.
• Adapts care to meet the needs and developmental levels of patients.

Qualifications

• Student Nurse in good standing with completion of basic patient skills within the nursing program.
• Must be enrolled in either:
  • A Registered Nurse accredited School of Nursing program in the Junior or Senior year.
  • A Licensed Practical Nurse accredited School of Nursing program who has completed their first semester/term.
• Training: Student Nurse in good standing within an accredited program.
• Special Skills: Communication, customer service, computer skills, and knowledge of medical terminology.
• BLS Certification required.
