Nurse Tech Cardiac and Vascular Care
About the unit: 6 Meijer Heart Center (6 Heart) is a 46-bed cardiac and vascular progressive/stepdown unit at the Meijer Heart Center. The primary patient population includes patients with various cardiac and vascular diseases requiring medical, procedural, or surgical interventions, such as acute coronary syndrome, acute myocardial infarction, post-percutaneous coronary intervention, peripheral artery disease, renal artery disease, aortic aneurysm, carotid artery disease, and heart rhythm disorders. Nurse Techs gain understanding of the cardiac and vascular system to deliver excellent care within our specialty, including post-procedural and post-surgical care like cardiac and peripheral stents, sheath management, revascularization procedures, Mitra clip, Watchman procedure, endovascular aneurysm repair, and mechanical embolectomy for pulmonary embolism.
Responsibilities
- Take vitals and check blood sugars
- Perform bed bathing and assist with ambulation
- Provide wound care and catheterization
- Act as a safety attendant for patients
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation
- Act as a team member in delivering quality patient care alongside RNs and providers
- Perform basic skills per department guidelines and communicate observations to the healthcare team
- Collect and report physiological, psychological, sociocultural, and spiritual needs of patients and families in coordination with the RN or provider
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days
- Experience in direct patient care is preferred
