Registered Nurse - Cardiac and Vascular Care

About the Unit

Cardiac and Vascular Care (CVC) is a 16-bed unit designated for cardiac and procedural patients requiring a brief hospitalization. Our Registered Nurses care for a variety of patients including those recovering from surgery, interventional radiology procedures, invasive cardiology procedures such as ST-elevation myocardial infarction, non ST-segment myocardial infarction, patients requiring percutaneous coronary interventions, and patients requiring antiarrhythmic medication initiation.

Responsibilities

The Registered Professional Nurse is responsible for the management of patient care, utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient outcomes. The nurse directs and guides the delivery of nursing care, patient education, and all care-related activities, while maintaining standards of professional nursing and collaborating with other disciplines as appropriate. This position requires rotational floating.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
• Currently licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.
• BLS or ACLS required; ACLS certification within 6 months of hire.
• Meets requirements of physical/pre-placement screening.
• Completion of cardiac rhythm course within three to six months.
• Completion of stepdown education course within six to twelve months.
• As applicable, training/competency in attending to the special needs and/or behaviors appropriate to the age of the patients for which care is being provided.
• Current RN licensure recognized by the State of New York.
• Appropriate experience in the specific clinical area (varies by unit).
