5 North is a 30-bed Medical Oncology unit located within Butterworth Hospital. This unit specializes in the care of patients with oncology diagnoses, as well as a surgical population including obstetrics, gynecology, and gastrointestinal cases. Longer patient stays are common, allowing the team to build relationships with patients and their families. The unit offers a variety of learning opportunities due to the diverse patient conditions and general medical/surgical population. Teamwork is a core value, and new or guest staff are warmly welcomed to ensure a positive experience.

About the role
Acts as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider. Performs basic skills per department guidelines and communicates observations to members of the health care team. Collects and reports physiological, psychological, sociocultural, and spiritual needs of patients and families in coordination with and as delineated by the RN or Provider.
Responsibilities
- Take vitals and check blood sugars
- Assist with bed bathing and ambulating patients
- Provide wound care and catheterization
- Act as a safety attendant for patients
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire
