Nurse Supervisor Nights

About the role

The Nurse Supervisor at Haven Behavioral Healthcare is responsible for overseeing patient care areas and providing managerial and clinical support. This position requires a strong background in nursing, particularly in psychiatric settings, and the ability to manage a team and provide clinical guidance.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient care requirements and make rounds throughout the hospital.
• Implement interventions and evaluate outcomes based on the nursing process.
• Provide education on prescribed medications and recognize signs of adverse reactions.
• Monitor documentation and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Administer medications safely and provide patient teaching.
• Communicate with staff and managers regarding patient care and emergencies.
• Assist with nursing personnel performance evaluations and continuing education.
• Facilitate discharge planning and address maintenance of wellness.

Requirements

• Minimum Associates Degree in Nursing.
• Current RN license in the state of employment.
• At least 3 years of registered nursing experience, with a focus on psychiatric nursing.
• High stress tolerance and ability to handle patient escalations.
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
• Sensitivity to serving a culturally diverse and special needs population.
• Ability to think critically and apply concepts for continuous improvement.
• CPR certification and completion of an Oceans-approved behavioral health de-escalation program.

Qualifications / Skills

• Experience with psychiatric disorders and appropriate nursing interventions.
• Understanding of normal physical and emotional development.
• Self-confidence and ability to lead and direct others.
• Handle difficult situations with professionalism.
