Nurse Specialist Surgery

Summary

Broward Health Medical Center coordinates specialty services including orthopedic, ophthalmology, neuro, gynecology, urology, plastics, ENT, CV cardiac, and minimally invasive surgery (including advanced da Vinci and Hybrid).

Responsibilities

• Performs duties as a circulating nurse or scrub person.
• Affirms and promotes clinical standards for the surgery service.
• Supports staff education in surgery/AORN member standards to achieve patient care objectives.
• Serves as the Endovascular/Vascular Coordinator.
• Previous coordinating experience preferred.
• Must be able to circulate in all specialty areas, scrub, and have a plus.
• Show solid interpersonal skills and strong customer service skills.
• Delegates and makes fair decisions aligned with BHMC's vision and mission.
• Acts as a resource for staff and physicians, fostering positive relationships.
• Functions as a patient advocate in a highly intense environment.

Requirements

• Essential: Associate degree in nursing.
• Experience Essential: Five years of OR/Surgery experience in all specialty areas.
• Credentials Essential: Registered Nurse, Basic Life Support, Association of periOperative Registered Nurses Certified Perioperative Nurse - CNOR, and AORN Membership.
