About the role

The staff nurse is a professional nurse who, with minimal supervision, is responsible for providing nursing care to patients.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care to patients in a Behavioral Health Inpatient setting.
  • Independently function in the Behavioral Health Staff Nurse role.
  • Apply evidence-based hands-on disengagement and engagement skills.
  • Lift up to fifty (50) pounds and apply physical effort when necessary.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Successfully completed the Behavioral Health unit orientation process.
  • Current RN License in the State of Alabama.
  • Current BLS Certification Required.
  • National Certification Preferred.

Work schedule

Full-time on the Evening Night Shift, 7p–7a, 12-hour shifts.

Work environment

The Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit is comprised of 44 beds and provides a therapeutic, engaging environment for children ages 4 to 18. The unit serves children struggling with depression, anxiety, suicide, self-control, and trauma, teaching them new emotional and behavioral skills in a fun and interactive way.
