About the Role

The Registered Professional Nurse identifies patient alterations in health, assesses the patient's human response to actual and potential health problems, implements nursing interventions based on theoretical concepts from nursing and other arts and sciences, and evaluates the effectiveness of nursing interventions to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Whenever possible, the patient, the family, or those significant to the patient are integral to the assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation efforts. The Registered Nurse supervises and directs care provided by Licensed Practical Nurses and Unlicensed Assistive Personnel, assigns or delegates care to qualified team members, and coordinates care with other professional disciplines as needed.

The RN contributes to unit-based activities that foster a positive work and professional environment, provides and coordinates care to align with the organization’s mission of excellent patient care, and upholds nursing’s vision of setting a new standard of excellence in autonomous and accountable practice committed to patient advocacy and innovative care in a climate of trust and collaboration.

Requirements

• BSN and professional nursing board certification preferred at time of hire.
• Nurses hired after April 30, 2014, without a BSN must obtain one within three years of hire.
• Nurses hired after June 30, 2011, without a professional nursing board certification must obtain one after two years of hire or at the certification eligibility date for certifications requiring more than two years of experience.
• Current RN license in the State of Florida.
