Moffitt is the only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center based in Florida. As a Nurse Resident (RN) in our medical observation unit, you will provide exceptional care for oncology patients requiring short-term hospitalization, ongoing assessment, symptom management, and treatment. This role initiates a professional nursing practice career in a supportive environment committed to mentoring, coaching, and learning, with a structured 12-month residency program that includes unit-specific orientation (12 or 16 weeks), paid education days, and one-on-one support.

All Nurse Residents are required to sign a Commitment Agreement to work a minimum of two years at Moffitt post-residency. Failure to complete the program or fulfill the commitment may result in a pro-rated refund of program costs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive assessments and ongoing monitoring of patients requiring observation and short-term medical management.
  • Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition, escalating care as appropriate.

  • Develop leadership skills to positively impact clinical practice and patient outcomes.
  • Participate in scheduled eight-hour paid education days off the unit for required class activities.
  • Engage in informal one-on-one meetings and self-evaluations to monitor progress throughout the residency program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN). In lieu of a BSN, an Associate’s degree in Nursing plus 1 year of relevant experience may be considered.
  • Current RN licensure in the State of Florida or a valid Multi-State privilege to practice in Florida (must declare Florida as primary state of residence within 60 days if licensed in another eNLC compact state).
