About the Role
The Nurse Practitioner Clinic examines and treats patients independently and in autonomous collaboration with other health care professionals, ensuring proper illness and injury care, disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. This role relies on education, experience, professional training, and judgment, with a wide degree of creativity and latitude expected. Works under minimal supervision, directed by the collaborating physician as appropriate, and may lead and direct the work of others within the scope of practice.
Responsibilities
- Assist with diagnosis, treatment, and symptom management of acute and chronic health conditions.
- Order, perform, and interpret treatments within the scope of professional practice.
- Consult program medical director as needed; comply with applicable laws and regulations regarding collaborative agreements.
- Initiate reimbursement for services rendered.
- Serve in a leadership role, managing patient and family expectations, group dynamics, and acting as a role model.
- Supervise all RNs assisting with the program.
- Communicate and collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other multidisciplinary team members involved in patient care.
- Act as a patient advocate by constantly monitoring, tracking, assessing, and evaluating the quality of care.
- Promote communication with referring physicians and the entire team regarding the plan of care.
- Support the professional development of the team.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Consistently perform 12 organizational Service Standards focused on Values, Service, and Quality.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an approved professional school of nursing.
- Completion of a State Board of Nursing-approved Nurse Practitioner course and licensed to practice professional nursing as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Certified in the State of Mississippi by the Mississippi State Board of Nursing and the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Current BLS Certification.
