About the role

This position involves performing initial and periodic medical history, physical examinations, and daily assessments. The incumbent will also write appropriate prescriptions and administer medications, order and interpret laboratory and radiology examinations, determine treatment plans, document all patient encounters, and serve as a patient advocate.

Responsibilities

  • Performs initial and periodic medical history, physical examinations, and daily assessments.
  • Records findings of examinations, assessments and plan of care.
  • Performs a wide range of surgical and/or medical procedures.
  • Writes appropriate prescriptions and administers medications.
  • Orders and interprets laboratory and radiology examinations.
  • Determines treatment plan for patient.
  • Documents all patient encounters, records observations, interventions, and actions in a medically appropriate manner on the patient's medical record.
  • Acts as a patient advocate for the population served.
  • Affairs with collaborating physicians, patients, nurses, staff and others as necessary.
  • Serves as a liaison to collaborating physicians, patients, nurses, staff and others as necessary.
  • Attends, participates, contributes to and represents APPs in the assigned areas of responsibility on group/practice, facility or system-wide committees and/or meetings.

Requirements

  • Must have or be eligible for a DEA license.
  • Approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the state one works.
  • 5 years experience required in specific specialty; management/supervisory experience preferred.
  • Eligible for prescriptive authority application through the Board of Nursing or Medical Board in SC required.
  • BLS for Healthcare Provider from AHA required with expiration date greater than 90 days from date of beginning practice.
  • Nurse Practitioner Master's Degree or Doctorate of Nursing Practice required.
  • Licence to practice as a Registered Nurse required.
  • Certification in the area of practice from a nationally recognized certifying body required.
  • ACNP, AGACNP, AGNP, PNP, or PNP-AC board certification preferred based population served.

  • Intact sense of sight, hearing, smell, touch, and finger dexterity.
  • Ability to react and perform in stressful situations.
