We are a fast-growing and vibrant group practice providing psychiatric services in assisted living and long-term care facilities throughout NY and NJ. Our well-respected group has been operating for 14 years and currently includes 35 Nurse Practitioners supported by 2 psychiatrists. Experienced clinicians can enjoy relative autonomy, while new employees and graduates receive tremendous support from our clinical staff through direct collaboration with senior team members.

About the Role

You will focus on psychiatric medication management and supportive psychotherapy, conducting initial evaluations and follow-up visits onsite at our partner facilities. Common conditions treated include depression, anxiety, cognitive disorders, and dementia with behavioral issues. The role offers extensive clinical and administrative support, allowing you to focus on patient care with streamlined documentation and real-time assistance.

This position is ideal for motivated, self-directed professionals who prefer variety over a static office environment. You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including primary care physicians, other NPs/PAs, psychologists, nursing staff, and families.

Responsibilities

  • Complete initial psychiatric evaluations and follow-up visits at assigned facilities.
  • Manage psychiatric medication and provide supportive psychotherapy.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including primary care physicians, nursing staff, and families.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant documentation using electronic health records (EHR).
  • Provide in-person services at facilities within a 45-minute travel radius.

Requirements

  • Active, unrestricted New Jersey NP License.
  • PMHNP certification required (based on state DEA registration or eligibility).
  • Experience or strong interest in geriatric psychiatry, long-term care, or consult-liaison psychiatry.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Basic proficiency with technology, including EHR systems.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills, with attention to regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to walk, stand, and move between patient rooms and offices throughout the day.
  • Full vaccination and booster status may be required in some facilities.
