About the role
At Signature Health, our purpose is to provide integrated healthcare for our community specializing in patients with mental illness and/or addiction. The Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatry role is dedicated to providing compassionate, supportive, patient-centered psychiatric medical care to our patients.
Responsibilities
- Provide ongoing consultation and management for assigned patients as requested or as necessary in accordance with accepted standards of psychiatric practice.
- Provide psychiatric services on the days and at the times established and scheduled by Signature Health.
- Utilize the electronic medical records system to timely and accurately fulfill all administrative responsibilities attendant to his/her performance of direct patient care.
- Prepare and attend to all reports, claims, and correspondence (including email) necessary or appropriate to the performance of the professional services.
- Refer patients to other services within the agency, other physicians, including specialists and other health care providers, when and if needed.
- Maintain competence in his/her area of specialty by attending professional conventions or seminars as well as participating in educational activities offered by professional societies on a reasonable basis.
- Provide coverage when other physician employees/contractors are unavailable due to vacations, holidays, illness, other personal or professional absences, or as required by Signature Health.
- Be available to take calls as assigned by the Agency.
- Report incidents timely, including major unusual incidents, and other information required to appropriate governmental authorities and as required for Agency reporting.
- Participate in Agency required quality assurance, peer review, compliance, and credentialing/privileging activities.
- Attend administrative meetings, as needed.
- Collaborate with a designated physician, as needed, and as required by state law and nursing accreditation standard guidelines.
- Teach and provide mentorship to Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner students, residents, practicum students or other trainees, as needed.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Agency from time to time that are commensurate with professional services normally and customarily performed by an APRN.
Requirements
- Ohio Licensed Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), in good standing upon effective date of employment.
- DEA License.
- Completion of a master’s/post-master’s or doctorate degree in an accredited nursing program with emphasis in his or her specialty area.
- Current certification by a nationally accredited professional nursing organization such as the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
- Minimum of one year of post-graduate clinical experience and employment history as a psychiatric provider.
- Current certification in American Heart Association Basic Life Support.
- Ability to effectively communicate both in writing and orally.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Electronic Health Records.
