North Shore Medical Center, part of Mass General Brigham, is a not-for-profit organization supporting patient care, research, teaching, and community service. We are seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner to join our Pre-Procedural Evaluation team at Salem Hospital, located at 81 Highland Avenue, Salem, MA. This clinic provides comprehensive preoperative assessments, partnering with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and specialists to optimize patients for surgery through detailed evaluations, risk stratification, and care coordination.

About the role

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a licensed provider responsible for assessing and managing patients in the Pre-Procedural Evaluation Clinic. This role involves diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, care planning, and ongoing evaluation of surgical and procedural patients. The position is a 36-hour, full-time role with a hybrid schedule, offering flexibility to work up to 50% remotely.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct care, counseling, and teaching to a designated patient population in ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural settings.
  • Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
  • Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
  • Develops and implements plans of care and follow-up based on diagnostic findings.
  • Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies.
  • Provides high-quality and timely documentation, including admission notes, progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes, and discharge summaries.
  • Performs bedside procedures as appropriate for the patient population.
  • May precept a small group of learners.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing (required).
  • 2+ years of licensed Nurse Practitioner experience (required).
  • 3+ years of Nurse Practitioner experience (preferred).
  • Previous experience in a Pre-Procedural Evaluation Clinic and/or PACU (preferred).

Qualifications

  • Active Nurse Practitioner (NP) / Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) state license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Schedule

  • Day shift: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
  • No weekends, holidays, or on-call responsibilities.
  • Flexible scheduling options: two 10-hour shifts and two 8-hour shifts, or four 9-hour shifts per week.
  • Hybrid work arrangement with up to 50% remote work.

Pay

Annual pay range: $126,838.40 – $173,867.20 (Grade 7). Compensation is based on skills, experience, education, certifications, and other relevant factors.
