About the role

Henry Ford Health West Bloomfield is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our General Surgery team. This day shift position provides comprehensive inpatient surgical care, including inpatient coverage for surgical services, inpatient and ER consultations, and care coordination for surgical patients. The APP will work closely with attending physicians, advanced practice providers, consultants, nurses, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team to ensure safe and efficient patient outcomes, with opportunities to serve as an OR first assist based on qualifications. As part of a Level 3 Trauma Center, this position offers a dynamic surgical environment with exposure to a diverse patient population. The position offers a day shift schedule with two weekend shifts per month and no call requirements.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of surgery experience as an Advanced Practice Provider
  • NP or PA graduate from an accredited program
  • Current (or in-process) Michigan licensure
  • National certification (ANCC, AANP, or NCCPA)
  • BLS required; ACLS required (or obtained after hire)

Qualifications

Education & Training

  • Physician Assistant (PA): Completion of a Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)
  • Nurse Practitioner (NP): Completion of a Nurse Practitioner program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC)

Licensure

  • Current licensure as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in the State of Michigan, or in the process of applying (proof of application required).

Certification

  • PA: Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • NP: National certification by a certification body recognized by the State of Michigan (e.g., ANCC, AANP)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – required
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – required (may be obtained after hire)

DEA / Controlled Substance Licensure

  • PA: DEA and Michigan Controlled Substance License (CSL) required through credentialing
  • NP: DEA registration required through credentialing; NPs do not hold a Michigan CSL and will use their Michigan license number during the application process
