Job Summary
The Acute Care APP will work in collaboration with the intensivist and other healthcare professionals while providing advanced, evidence-based clinical care to the critically ill adult patients in the ICU unit. Major areas of responsibilities include in-house management of the critical and non-critical patients in the Intensive Care Unit, participation in multidisciplinary rounds and quality initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing or graduate of a accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Current Louisiana Advanced Practice Registered Nurse License – Acute Care or Physician Assistant Licensure.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in critical care or emergency medicine preferred, new graduates with relevant ICU RN experience may be considered.
- Familiarity with ventilator management and advanced life support.
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association and America Red Cross. The ILCOR course must include a manikin check-off.
Physical Demands
- Must possess good physical health.
- Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time.
- Lifting at least 50 pounds is required.
- Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.
- Physical Effort required: Constant (67%-100%) - hearing, seeing; Frequently (34%-66%) - handling/feeling, talking; Occasionally (1%-33%) - lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, climbing (stairs, ladders, etc.), stooping, crouching, reaching.
