Job Requirements
The University of Maryland Medical Center is seeking a compassionate and collaborative Nurse Practitioner to join their inpatient Palliative Care team within a high-acuity academic medical center environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide inpatient palliative care consultations and follow-up care
- Provide compassionate and sensitive support and communication with patients, families, and health care teams regarding terminal illness and disease processes
- In-depth understanding of palliative care principles, hospice philosophy, hospice eligibility and end of life care
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop treatment plans
- Assist with symptom management and pain management strategies
- Facilitate goals-of-care and advance care planning discussions
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
- Support patients and families through complex medical decision-making
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record
Qualifications
- Master’s or Doctoral degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
- Nurse Practitioner licensed in the state of Maryland
- National board certification required
- DEA and CDS registration preferred or eligible
- Prior inpatient, palliative care, hospice, oncology, ICU, or acute care experience preferred
- Minimum 2 years nurse practitioner experience required; must have at least 2 years of palliative experience
- Strong communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
