Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - Inpatient Hospital Medicine

Full-time inpatient position with rotating day and night shifts, Monday through Friday.

About the Role

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) contributes to the clinical, educational, and research missions of the organization. Provides clinical care in the inpatient setting at NJH Main Campus and St. Joseph Hospital, primarily serving adults with pulmonary conditions. The practice model includes physician attending oversight and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Provides quality care for patients and families, manages chronic and acute conditions, and promotes health maintenance.
• Performs and documents history and physical exams, gathers data from medical records, reviews outside records, communicates with referring providers, and develops and implements the plan of care.
• Monitors and documents patient progress, revises plans as needed, interprets test results, and intervenes with problems requiring specialty referral or escalation.
• Acts as a consultant and presents educational programs to community groups, organizations, or individuals.
• Contributes to the education and research mission through participation in projects, presentations, professional organizations, precepting, and scholarly activities.
• Functions as a role model and encourages professional behaviors among the multidisciplinary team.
• Represents advanced practice, Department, or Division on organizational committees.
• Complies with all applicable policies, laws, rules, and regulations (e.g., Colorado Medical Board, Joint Commission, Medicare, Medicaid).
• Maintains current licensure, board certification, BLS, ACLS, or PALS as applicable, and stays updated with regulatory changes.

Requirements

• Graduate degree from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
• Colorado PA or APRN license with prescriptive authority; DEA registration.
• PA or NP certification by a national certifying body.
• Current CPR/BLS certification; ACLS or PALS if applicable to practice area.
• 1 year of recent experience as an APP in adult hospital medicine or critical care (preferred).

Travel

Travel between NJH practice sites as needed.

Pay

Salary range: $110,000 - $150,000.
