About the role

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is responsible for assessing patients through physical exams, health histories, and ongoing data collection, ensuring quality care in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Practices according to established protocols, policies, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Performs age-appropriate assessments and patient education, involving families and advocating for patients.
  • Consults with physicians and other clinicians based on patient needs and assessment findings.
  • Reviews medical records, orders diagnostic tests, and maintains communication with healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care.
  • Builds effective relationships with team members, patients, and families, respecting cultural and ethical beliefs.
  • Delegates tasks appropriately, evaluates team effectiveness, and demonstrates safety and emergency response skills.
  • Assumes professional responsibility, participates in staff development, and adheres to legal and confidentiality standards.
  • Engages in quality improvement, research activities, and problem-solving to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Utilizes computer and telecommunication tools proficiently.
  • Fulfills role-specific expectations if practicing in a specialty area.

Requirements

  • Minimum 6 months of NP experience; 2 years in emergency or urgent care settings.
  • Master's degree in Nursing with specialization in Family Practice or Acute Care.
  • Valid California Nurse Practitioner license and certification.
  • Additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, BLS.
  • Ability to meet credentialing and application requirements for the healthcare system.
