About the role

The nurse practitioner shall, under the appropriate direction and supervision by the collaborating physician, provide primary health care services at a designated primary practice location. Nurse practitioner may be assigned to another medical practice owned by the Hospital as needs arise and at the direction the COO. Nurse practitioner shall devote efforts to the development of Practice, including being visible in community events and activities, providing community education programs, and other activities to promote Practice. Nurse practitioner will perform duties consistent with the needs of the communities served, in a manner that reflects the Mission, Vision, and Values of Perry County Memorial Hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Provide primary health care services under the appropriate direction and supervision by the collaborating physician.
  • Devote efforts to the development of Practice, including community involvement and education.
  • Perform duties consistent with the needs of the communities served, reflecting the Hospital's Mission, Vision, and Values.

Requirements

  • Must have a Master’s degree from an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Must be licensed to practice as an Advanced Practice Nurse in the State of Indiana with authority to prescribe legend drugs, including controlled substances.
  • Must possess an Indiana Controlled Substances Registration and a Federal Drug Enforcement Administration Registration.
  • Must be current in CPR.
  • Must have at least one year of clinical experience as a nurse practitioner, either in the nurse practitioner program or since graduation.

Qualifications

  • Must maintain competence in clinical practice through self and supervisory review, participation in educational activities, maintenance of state licensure, and certification by professional organization.
  • Must deal with all types of people in physical and/or mental distress.
  • Mental/Physical Effort: Attention to detail, initiative and decision-making required; must deal with physical and/or mental distress; requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination; standing and walking for extensive periods of time; occasionally lifting and carrying items weighing up to 100 pounds; requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range; requires working under stressful conditions and the ability to work irregular hours.

Skills

  • Ability to work under stressful conditions and the ability to work irregular hours.
  • Knowledge of communicable diseases, toxic chemicals, and potentially dangerous body fluids.
