Nurse Practitioner - ER - PRN

About the Role

The Emergency Department Family Nurse Practitioner assesses the physical and psychosocial status of patients through interviews, health histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests. They determine emergent and non-emergent conditions, interpret data, develop and implement therapeutic plans, and ensure continuity of care. The role involves collaborating with UMMC Telemed Physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide quality care.

Responsibilities

• Prescribe medication, examine patients, diagnose illnesses, and provide treatment
• Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests
• Gather health histories, perform physical examinations, and conduct diagnostic procedures
• Develop and implement treatment plans
• Dictate and document all patient interactions
• Notify managing physician about unusual or unexpected events or problems
• Effectively communicate with diverse populations, including physicians, employees, patients, and families
• Transfer patients appropriately to higher levels of care

Requirements

• Current license with the MS State Board of Nursing
• Master's Degree in Nursing
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
• Telemed certification through UMMC
• ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support) certification
