Job Summary
The University of Utah Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to provide care to patients in multiple emergency department locations. The ideal candidate should have at least two years of experience working in Emergency Medicine as a Nurse Practitioner.
Responsibilities
- Affords physical assessments and obtains medical histories from groups of patients.
- Formulates medical plans and prognoses based on patient conditions.
- Consults with physicians regarding patient health care plans and treatments.
- Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient health issues.
- Performs selected invasive procedures for therapeutic and diagnostic purposes within validated competence.
- Initiates and/or recommends medical drug therapies or other forms of related therapeutic treatment and procedures in accordance with approved protocols/policies.
- Complies with medical records policies regarding the complete and accurate documentation of patient care.
- Participates in quality improvement activities.
- Counsels patients, families, and significant others about health and illness, and promotes health maintenance.
- Evaluates, plans, implements, and re-evaluates the care of individuals requiring emergency measures.
Qualifications
- Licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Utah.
- Licensure obtained through completion of a Master's degree in Nursing or equivalency (only an equivalency to the Master's degree is a current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner).
- National Certification completed through the successful completion of a nationally accredited examination.
- UHPPM 1-56 requires newly hired non-physician providers to apply for credentialing and privileging at the time of hire.
