About the role

The Emergency Department Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides direct and indirect advanced practice care to patients seeking medical services at King's Daughters Medical Center Emergency Department.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates, diagnoses, and manages patients with acute and chronic conditions while collaborating with physicians and the healthcare team to provide safe, efficient, and evidence-based care.
  • Promotes quality patient outcomes through comprehensive assessments, treatment planning, patient education, and coordination of care in accordance with KDMC policies, procedures, and accepted standards of practice.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Nurse Practitioner in a family practice setting preferred.
  • Emergency Department or Acute Care Experience Preferred.
  • Current Mississippi Nurse Practitioner (NP) license required.
  • Certified Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.
  • Tuberculosis (TB) Skin Test certification/clearance required.
  • Proficient computer skills and ability to utilize electronic medical records and other healthcare technology.
  • Knowledge of clinic and healthcare operations.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple patient care responsibilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, patients, families, and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Demonstrates sound clinical judgment, professionalism, and commitment to quality patient care.

  • Maintains good physical health and ability to work in an environment with frequent exposure to communicable diseases.
  • Possesses the physical stamina necessary to assess, examine, and treat multiple patients efficiently while maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions, including standing, walking, and assisting with patient care activities, with or without reasonable accommodation.
