Nurse Practitioner, Cardiology Inpatient

We are looking for a skilled Advanced Practice Nurse to assess, diagnose, plan, and implement medical care for patients in collaboration with physicians. This role involves functioning within the full scope of licensure, delivering holistic and individualized care, and fostering collaborative relationships with patients, families, and healthcare providers.

About the Role

As an Advanced Practice Nurse, you will be accountable for the assessment, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care. You will develop and manage interdisciplinary care plans incorporating psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and lifestyle factors while adhering to entity policies, industry standards, and applicable laws.

Responsibilities

• Manage medical care for patients utilizing clinical protocols in collaboration with physicians.
• Perform physical exams if indicated and ensure individualized health maintenance, including vaccinations, risk screenings, mental status baselines, and functional assessments.
• Conduct diagnostic examinations and update detailed medical histories.
• Consult with supervising physicians for abnormal findings and when implementing clinical protocols.
• Perform standardized procedures without direct physician observation, supervision, or approval.
• Facilitate care transitions to community practitioners upon discharge.
• Conduct patient and family assessments encompassing physiological, spiritual, and emotional areas.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to interpret, adjust, and coordinate patient-centric care plans with continuity of care.
• Partner with peers and management to improve patient outcomes and streamline workflows.
• Provide competent, compassionate, and cost-effective patient care in accordance with policies and evidence-based practices.
• Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and families.
• Delegate tasks appropriately based on legal scopes of practice and individual capability.
• Communicate treatments and activities clearly to patients and families, using teach-back methods to ensure understanding.
• Deliver safe and effective care in compliance with established policies and regulations.
• Uphold patient confidentiality and protect protected health information (PHI).
• Monitor patient care interventions, assess therapies, and evaluate outcomes.
• Conduct ongoing education for patients and families to ensure optimal care from admission through transitions.
• Reassess, evaluate, and document patient responses to the care plan and adjust as needed.
• Report safety or compliance concerns and participate in safety event analyses.
• Accurately document all treatment information in the electronic health record (EHR).
• Develop, implement, and document formal teaching and transition planning involving patients and families.
• Remain current with advancements, trends, and best practices in acute care and specialty areas.
• Participate in process improvement activities at the system, unit, and facility levels.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Master’s degree in Nursing.

Skills and Knowledge

• Demonstrated knowledge of advanced nursing theories, concepts, and practices.
• Proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
• Working knowledge of the healthcare industry, safety policies, patient care best practices, and privacy regulations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to explain sensitive information clearly to diverse audiences.
• Basic knowledge of computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and Electronic Health Records (EHR).
• Ability to prioritize and delegate assignments while working within standardized policies and procedures.
• Capability to work independently and as part of a team in an environment with interruptions.
• Problem-solving skills to evaluate and resolve standard issues using established solutions.
• Commitment to protecting patient privacy and confidentiality.
• Ability to build collaborative relationships with peers and healthcare providers to achieve objectives.

Pay

Pay range is $186,700.80 to $261,372.80 per year. The compensation range may vary based on geographic location, experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, and organizational needs.

Schedule

• Full-time, 40 hours per week.
• Day shift with variable days of the week, including weekends as needed.
