About the role
VitalCore Health Strategies (VCHS), an industry leader in Correctional Health Care, has an opening for a Part-Time (26 hours/week) Nurse Practitioner at Souza Baranowski Correctional Center (SBCC) in Lancaster, MA. Responsibilities
- Responds to and initiates care for medical emergencies throughout the facility.
- Identifies patient health problems and prescribes treatment under the direction of a physician.
- Implements medical care utilizing therapeutic regimens approved by a Physician.
- Provides education to inmate/patient, healthcare staff, and correctional staff.
- Documents all healthcare contacts.
- Adheres to safety and security policies and participates in disaster drills.
- Follows security regulations for keys, sharps, and controlled medications.
- Delegates to and supervises other team members as appropriate.
- Adheres to Universal Precautions and other appropriate infection control practices.
- Attends training and meetings as required.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited college/university NP / PA program
- Must possess current licenses or certifications in the state of MA
- Experience in Correctional desired but not required
- Maintains required annual licensure and credentialing requirements for Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner in the healthcare unit.
