This is a full-time, probationary, exempt position.

Pay

Anticipated hiring salary range: $10,047 - $10,452 per month (Steps 1-3). Full classification salary range: $10,047 - $14,636 per month.

About the Role

The Nurse Practitioner is an advanced practice nurse who works as a primary care provider in ambulatory care clinics in accordance with State and Federal rules and regulations and nursing standards of care. This position serves the students of California State University, Fresno and reports to the Director of Medical Services in the Student Health & Counseling Center.

Responsibilities

• Assess health status, diagnose, develop and implement plans of care/treatment, and evaluate patient outcomes
• Provide general and preventive health care, conduct check-ups, treat illnesses and minor injuries
• Order lab and x-ray tests, and make referrals to health providers in the community and to specialty services within the health center
• Work independently in assigned areas of practice established by the supervising physician
• Demonstrate clinical competence in eliciting patient histories, conducting examinations, diagnosing and treating acute and chronic illnesses and injuries
• Assess patient needs and make appropriate referrals
• Use clinical techniques, examinations, and diagnostic tools
• Interpret laboratory and other study results
• Maintain current knowledge of developments in the medical field pertinent to the incumbent's scope of practice
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other health center staff
• Communicate effectively with diverse patients

Requirements

• Academic degree or certificate from an approved college or university-based Nurse Practitioner program, or equivalent training and experience as outlined by the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN)
• Two or more years of experience as a nurse practitioner
• Experience as a nurse practitioner in an ambulatory health care setting
