About the Role

A Nurse Practitioner provides patient care services by independently and interdependently scheduling, supervising, and/or conducting diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. They participate in the delivery of direct patient care within the scope of authority granted by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing, following AHL protocols and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct patient care within the scope of advanced practice nursing.
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Assess and evaluate patient needs to develop and implement care plans.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and other staff in verbal and written form.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to high ethical standards.
  • Operate office and medical equipment.
  • Handle stressful situations, including emergencies, with professional composure.

Requirements

  • Current Louisiana RN license.
  • Master’s degree with a concentration in the respective advanced practice nursing specialty from an accredited college or university.
  • Certification by a nationally recognized certifying body (or an RN recognized as an advanced practitioner by the LA State Board of Nursing on or before December 31, 1995, per Act 633 of 1995).
  • Current CPR certification.
  • At least one year of experience in advanced practice nursing.
  • Knowledge of scope of practice.

Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Stands, sits, and walks for most of the day.
  • Reads gauges, digital readouts, graphs, educational materials, and patient charts in English (requires visual acuity).
  • Exerts up to 20 pounds of force frequently, including pushing and/or pulling.
  • Ability to move between exam rooms and workspaces.
  • Operates office and medical equipment.

Work Environment

OSHA Category I: Duties routinely require exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissue. Potential exposure to chemical hazards.
