Responsibilities
- Oversees the quality of care delivered to assigned patients according to the established protocols between supervising physician(s).
- Conducts medical assessments, medical diagnoses, medication management, and treatment planning.
- Demonstrates strong communication skills, fostering collaborative relationships with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Performs medical history & physicals (H&Ps) and medical consultations.
- Obtains patient health histories and completes examinations.
- Orders, performs and interprets lab and diagnostic imaging studies.
- Diagnoses and treats acute health problems.
- Provides health maintenance, screenings and referrals.
- Provides direct clinical services for hospital medicine services according to established protocols.
- Assesses the physical, emotional, and developmental status of the patient across the life span.
- Provides primary care based upon assessments, clinical judgements, and intervention to maintain, restore, and/or improve the health status of the patient.
- Alters the activity level of patients in accordance with the health problem.
- Provides counseling to promote healthy lifestyles and arranges consultations and referrals.
- Collaborates with physicians and other health care professionals as needed.
- Documents examination results, noting pertinent normal and abnormal findings and ensures accuracy of notes on patient medical records.
- Explains the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of procedure(s) to patients, patient's family, or staff.
- Performs approved therapeutic or diagnostic procedures based upon patient's clinical status.
- Adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care.
- Teach, counsel, advise and allocate for the patient and/or family.
- Provides quality assurance review through monitoring accuracy and comprehensiveness of patient records.
Qualifications
- Valid license to practice and prescribe as Nurse Practitioner in Arkansas
- At least 2 years of experience in a behavioral health/psychiatric practice; with adolescents preferred
- Provide general medical care, assessments, evaluation and treatment of residents and consult with physicians, nursing, and other health professionals as needed to assure holistic approach and coordination of care and case management.
- Perform physical examination and/or preventive health measures within established guidelines to assess and evaluate resident's clinical problems and health care needs.
- Manage all H&Ps and interventions in a timely manner.
- Coordinate with the Medical Director to ensure that the quality of medical services is of the highest caliber and provide competent medical physician back-up as required.
- Recommend, order, and prescribe treatments such as medication, therapy, and related procedures, and make referrals as needed.
