Nurse Practitioner AC (ACLS)

About the role

The Nurse Practitioner Acute Care (NP) AC (ACLS) position at Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital is responsible for providing comprehensive patient care, including diagnosis, treatment, and consultation. This role works in both inpatient and outpatient settings, adhering to the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Texas and collaborating with a treatment team.

Responsibilities

• Function as a licensed registered nurse and care provider to deliver all aspects of patient care.
• Collaborate with physicians and the interprofessional health care team to educate patients about preventative care and prescribed treatments.
• Conduct physicals, order tests, and serve as a patient's healthcare provider, prescribing medications as appropriate.
• Model compassionate communication and advocate for patients, families, and the interprofessional health care team.
• Facilitate the promotion of teamwork and coordinate patient care between healthcare providers.
• Advocate for patient/family's needs and promote positive behaviors and peer-to-peer accountability.
• Act as a role model and coach staff in effective communication and professional practices.

Requirements

• Master’s degree or higher from an accredited school of Nursing and graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioners program.
• Two years of registered nurse, advanced practice, or nurse practitioner clinical experience.
• Required RN - Registered Nurse - Texas State Licensure - Texas Board of Nursing_PSV Compact Licensure – Must obtain permanent Texas license within 60 days (if establishing Texas residency) and APRN Acute Care state license and Magnet ANCC-recognized Acute-Care practitioner certification.
• BLS - Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA) - American Heart Association and ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support or Instructor (AHA) - American Heart Association and AP - Prescriptive Authority - Texas Board of Nursing - Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation_PSV and DEA - Narcotics License (DEA) - Drug Enforcement Administration_PSV within 6 months.

• Promotes quality health care through integration of current research into practice and participation in research/evidence-based activities.
• Provides education and expands individual nursing knowledge.
