Join the Community Health Services Division at the Bradley County Health Department in Cleveland, Tennessee. This full-time position offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive clinical nursing specialty care, including assessment, diagnosis, and nursing/medical treatment for patients and families in a community health setting.

About the role

As a Nurse Practitioner, you will function as a clinical specialist with the authority to prescribe medications, order diagnostic tests, and develop evidence-based treatment strategies for patients with complex diagnoses. You will monitor patient health status and treatment responses, perform physical examinations, review medical records, and coordinate care with consulting physicians.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor patient health status, efficacy of care, and response to treatments to ensure optimal patient outcomes
  • Devise evidence-based treatment strategies to meet the needs of patients with difficult diagnoses
  • Prescribe medication dosages and frequencies based on patient characteristics, detect and respond to adverse drug reactions
  • Respond to medical emergencies, perform basic life support and CPR
  • Provide psychosocial counseling and preventative health care
  • Analyze findings from physical examinations, laboratory reports, and diagnostic testing
  • Review patient history from medical records and obtain information from patients to determine the reason for hospitalization, office visit, or chief complaint
  • Order appropriate diagnostic tests
  • Safeguard medical records in accordance with agency directives and state and federal law
  • Audit patient charts for protocol, standards of care, and compliance with agency and accrediting/licensing organization guidelines
  • Collaborate with consulting physicians about patient care plans
  • Participate in orientation for new staff and deliver health-related training
  • Act as a preceptor to students in medical, nursing, pharmacy, or nurse practitioner programs
  • Lead patient treatment teams as necessary to coordinate patient care

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's degree in a nursing clinical specialty area with preparation in specialized practitioner skills, or possession of a Certificate of Fitness from the Tennessee Board of Nursing
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse with Advanced Practice Nurse certificate in the State of Tennessee
  • Current national certification or eligible for national certification in the appropriate nursing specialty area
  • Valid driver's license
  • Driver record must not include the following violations within the past five years: driving under the influence (DUI), reckless driving, license suspension for moving violations, or more than 4 moving violations

Licenses and Certifications

Required within 60 days of employment:

  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse with Advanced Practice Nurse certificate in the State of Tennessee
  • National certification in the appropriate nursing specialty area
  • Certificate of Fitness from the Tennessee Board of Nursing

Pay

Monthly Salary: $7,458.00 - $9,697.00
Annual Salary: $89,496.00 - $116,364.00
