Duties
As a Nurse (Occupational Health) you will:
- Provide direct support for the development, implementation, and administration of the District’s Occupational Health Program.
- Cookordinate medical support services as related to all Occupational Health Program requirements.
- Refer employees for follow up with their personal health care providers.
- Implement a comprehensive Occupational Health Nursing Program to promote occupational health and well-being of civilian personnel.
- Secure and maintains employee occupational health medical records in compliance with Privacy Act and HIPAA.
Requirements
Conditions of employment:
- The incumbent must possess and maintain a current, valid, active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Must obtain and maintain current certification by the Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC).
- Must obtain and maintain current certification by a NIOSH approved training program in spirometry techniques.
- Must obtain and maintain Basic Life Saver (BLS) CPR Certified; within first year of assignment.
- Must have clinical titer testing or proof of immunity for Rubella, Rubeola, and Hepatitis B.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
- The position requires the incumbent to possess and maintain a valid State Driver's License.
- The appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- The position requires the completion of a pre-employment Drug screening and random drug testing.
- The position may require TDY 20% of the time.

- Additional information about transcripts is Basic Requirement For a Nurse (Occupational Health): Degree: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required.
- Licensure: A current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States; and you must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination.
- Foreign Degree: A degree from a Foreign Nursing School. Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
- Exemption: You are exempt from the basic requirements above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0610 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before. Applicants claiming this exemption must meet the requirement below.
- Note: You will be required to provide appropriate documentation to the respective Human Resources Office to validate your status.
- Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
