About the role

PeaceHealth is seeking an experienced Nurse Midwife to join their team in Ketchikan, Alaska. Located in a friendly, family-oriented community in scenic Southeast Alaska, Ketchikan offers an idyllic lifestyle with access to the Inside Passage and abundant wildlife. Responsibilities

  • Provides direct clinical services and management of mothers and babies as defined in the standing orders, policies, procedures and protocols for the certified nurse midwife.
  • Obtain patient health histories and complete physical examinations.
  • Document findings noting pertinent normal and abnormal findings.
  • Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests.
  • Perform approved therapeutic procedures based upon patient’s clinical status.
  • Document patient preparation and response to procedure(s).
  • Collaborate with physician and nursing colleagues and document in medical records and appropriate narrative summaries.
  • Assess educational needs, plan, provide, and evaluate educational programs for nursing staff, interdisciplinary healthcare team, and community.

Qualifications

  • Current licensure as a Nurse Midwife in Alaska.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Experience in providing direct clinical services and managing mothers and babies.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with healthcare teams.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
