Nurse Midwife - OB GYN

About the role

PeaceHealth is seeking an experienced Nurse Midwife to join their team in Ketchikan, Alaska. Located in a friendly, family-oriented community in scenic Southeast Alaska, Ketchikan offers an idyllic lifestyle with access to the Inside Passage and abundant wildlife. Known as the "Salmon Capital of the World," Ketchikan is accessible by air or ferry and boasts a rich native culture.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct clinical services and management of mothers and babies as defined in the standing orders, policies, procedures and protocols for the certified nurse midwife.
• Obtain patient health histories and complete physical examinations.
• Document findings noting pertinent normal and abnormal findings.
• Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests.
• Perform approved therapeutic procedures based upon patient’s clinical status.
• Document patient preparation and response to procedure(s).
• Collaborate with physician and nursing colleagues and document in medical records and appropriate narrative summaries.
• Assess educational needs, plan, provide, and evaluate educational programs for nursing staff, interdisciplinary healthcare team, and community.

Qualifications

• Current licensure as a Nurse Midwife in Alaska.
• Current CPR certification.
• Experience in providing direct clinical services and managing mothers and babies.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with healthcare teams.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.

• Guaranteed first-year income, based on a 1.0 FTE and years of direct experience (0-3, 3-5, 5-9, 10+).
