About the role

A Certified Nurse Midwife at Catholic Charities will exercise independent judgment related to patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and counseling. They will collaborate with other healthcare professionals and refer patients to specialists when necessary. They will provide antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care, perform routine gynecological care, and educate patients on fertility awareness and infertility care consistent with Catholic medical ethics.

Responsibilities

  • Provides emotional support for patients.
  • Serves as a member of Marisol Health multi-disciplinary team to integrate and coordinate whole person care.
  • Supports, promotes, and adheres to Catholic Charities’ vision, mission, values, and Code of Ethics.
  • Maintains confidentiality of client and agency information.
  • Supports the agency’s commitment to treating all persons with dignity and respect.
  • Shares call rotation and clinic equally between providers.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain DEA registration in the state of Colorado.
  • Training as a first assistant for cesarean sections or willingness to obtain such training.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, especially with people experiencing crisis.
  • Familiarity with principles and practices related to medical or mental health clinic planning, records management and general administration, including policies related to HIPAA regulations.
  • Knowledge of the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and the appropriate techniques and practices for the client population.
  • Ability to interact effectively as a team member and independently with Agency staff and with a diverse client base.

Education and/or Experience

  • Certified by an ACME-accredited program (Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education) and licensed as a Certified Nurse Midwife in Colorado or ability to apply in Colorado.
  • One to two years of in-hospital midwifery experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ministerial Requirements

  • Be a fully initiated Catholic in the communion of the Catholic Church and/or intentionally living out the five precepts of the Church (CCC 2041-2043).
  • Refrain from public promotion or approval of, or the living out of, any conduct or lifestyle that would reflect discredit or disgrace on, or cause scandal in relationship to, the Archdiocese of Denver, or considered to be in contradiction with Catholic doctrine or morals.

Provider Ethical Agreement

Marisol Health providers and staff have agreed to follow the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services as issued by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.
