Responsibilities
- Works with the wound care physicians to provide a comprehensive treatment program for patients, addresses patient issues, and works through all patient/employee-related matters.
- Educates referring providers to purpose, function, and realistic expectations of the Clinic.
- Educates nursing personnel on wound care techniques and skills.
- Captures and revises present wound and/or HBO services by planning, developing, and implementing new service programming compatible hospital goals.
- Develops appropriate protocols and objectives for programs exhibiting knowledge of the programs by communicating needed information and/or referring requests for information to appropriate sources.
- Provides leadership in the development of performance standards for employees. Evaluates and counsels’ employees on their performance.
- Plans and develops educational in-services for the department.
Qualifications
- Education: Graduate of accredited Nursing school BSN. Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
- Experience: Minimum two (2) years experience in working in wound care and HBO including previous supervisory experience.
- Knowledge and Skills: Critical thinking, math, and computer skills; Works as a team player; Monitors and facilitates the meeting of requirements of NYSDOH, JCAHO and other regulators; Knowledge of quality improvement philosophy models, processes and tools and their use in health care integrated settings; Maintains currency with state of the art and regulatory trends; Knowledge of methods for CQI, and Root Cause Analysis; Monitors and facilitates the meeting of requirements of NYSDOH, JCAHO and other regulators; Demonstrates respect and professionalism in all interactions; Demonstrates competence in leadership, budgetary and administrative skills; Demonstrates a commitment to continuing professional growth and development; Excellent oral and communication skills; Experience and demonstrated competency in applicable clinical specialty; Decision making and problem solving; Able to read, write, see and hear English; Ability to fully utilize BHMC's electronic record systems, equipment and healthcare and billing systems relevant to this position.
- Licenses, Certifications: Licensed and currently registered as a Professional Nurse in New York State required. Basic Life Support required. ACLS required. PALS (required for Pediatric, PICU, and NICU) preferred for all other areas. Board certification as a CWS or WOCN.
