About the role
The Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation is a Tribal health care organization serving nearly 30,000 people across rural, southwest Alaska. The Sub-Regional Clinic manages daily operations to ensure coordinated patient flow and care, maintaining accurate medical records, and optimizing reimbursement.
Responsibilities
- Manages daily operations of the Sub-Regional Clinic
- Facilitates coordinated patient flow and care through the clinic and other providers
- Ensures current and accurate medical records
- Provides information needed to optimize reimbursement for clinic services
- Furnishes documentation needed by YKHC to effectively manage the clinic
- Plans, directs, coordinates, and evaluates the overall clinical practice, functions, and management of the Subregional clinic
- Manages fiscal, material, and human resources of the department
- Participates in the development and implementation of hospital policies and procedures
- Maintains interdepartmental communication
- Maintains open communication with department staff to facilitate performance improvement
- Works closely with other members of the Subregional Clinics Management Team to improve access to care and improve Health Indicators for the area served
- Cooperates with healthcare professionals in all departments to provide quality and cost-effective care
- Supports the Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation's Mission Statement
Requirements
- Minimum Education: Completed a program of education in nursing from an NLN approved institution
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master’s degree in a health care related field preferred
- Minimum Experience: Five (5) years of progressive nursing management experience with three years of clinical nursing experience preferred
- License, Certification, Registration: Licensed in good standing in the State of Alaska as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN), current BLS
Qualifications
- Knowledge of regulatory agency standards related to health care organizations
- Cognitive and technical knowledge required with the ability to manage care across the continuum of care
- Flexibility with work schedule and ability for independent actions within prescribed limits
- Knowledge of budgets, reimbursements, coding, claims processing, and fiscal management
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Ability to work in a patient care setting
- Knowledge of psychiatric patients (Title 47)
- Knowledge of coding and billing for Title 47 patients
- Knowledge of Non-Violent Crisis Intervention tactics
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
- Theoretical knowledge of the nursing process, care management, and continuity of care
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages, draw and interpret bar graphs, and maintain a computer, database
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
