About the role

The Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation is a Tribal health care organization serving nearly 30,000 people across rural, southwest Alaska. Bethel, the regional hub and location of the only hospital in the region, has a population of nearly 7,000. This position is responsible for delivering patient care, managing ambulatory clinics, and maintaining open communication with staff.

Responsibilities

• Delivers patient care promoting safety and well-being in assigned departments.
• Plans, directs, coordinates, and evaluates clinical nursing practice and daily functioning of ambulatory clinics.
• Maintains interdepartmental and intradepartmental communication.
• Maintains open communication with department staff to facilitate performance improvement.
• May assume responsibility for the role of House Supervisor as requested.
• Applies age-specific considerations and cultural diversity in patient care.
• Supports the organization's mission statement.

Requirements

• Minimum of five (5) years of progressive nursing management experience with three years of clinical nursing experience preferred.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master’s degree in a health care related field preferred.
• Licensed in good standing in the State of Alaska as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN).
• Current BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of regulatory agency standards related to health care organizations.
• Cognitive and technical knowledge required with the ability to manage care across the continuum of care.
• Flexible with work schedule and possesses the ability for independent actions within prescribed limits.
• Knowledge of budgets, reimbursements, coding, claims processing, and fiscal management.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to work in a patient care setting.
• Knowledge of psychiatric patients (Title 47).
• Knowledge of coding and billing for Title 47 patients.
• Knowledge of Non-Violent Crisis Intervention tactics.

Skills

• Reads, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
• Writes reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Speaks effectively in front of groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
• Applies age-specific considerations and cultural diversity in patient care.
• Solves practical problems and deals with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
